One Time Around the Wheel
By Sean Croke

Book Review by Ashley Kehl

I just finished reading “One Time Around the Wheel” recently and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to recommend it to others. As a person who honors the cycle of the seasons, I really enjoyed the cadence of Sean’s book. As the name implies, it follows the cycle of the year and highlights some of the plants that can be worked with in each season. I particularly like the depth that he shares about the herbs, his relationship he has developed with them and his own journey. It feels very relatable and was an engaging read. I would highly recommend it to those living in or connected to the Pacific Northwest.

Sean is a friend from many years ago. I have always been impressed with his model of teaching at the Hawthorn School of Plant Medicine based in Olympia, Washington. I recommend checking them out and if you are close by they are still taking applications for the 2025 year. He has stayed true to his ideals and donates herbs and time to help support underserved communities. I am excited that he will also be farming more herbs too, many of my personal favorites, like Ashwagandha, Tulsi, and Calendula. You can find more info about his work on his website-
